- STEELBOND®
is used worldwide for general maintenance and repairing pipes,
valves, engine blocks, tanks, radiators, water jackets and blowholes
in castings. It's ideal for drill rigs, holding fixtures and most
repairs involving steel.

TYPICAL
APPLICATIONS:

|
|
1.
Repair a leaking pipe. |
|
|
a.
Clean, dry and roughen the area around the leak. |
|
|
b.
Cut a piece of the fiberglass tape long enough to wrap around the
leaking area three times. |
|
|
c.
Thoroughly mix the HY-POXY® STEELBOND® as instructed on packaging. |
|
|
d.
Spread the mixed HY-POXY® STEELBOND® on one side of the
fiberglass tape and wrap the tape three times around the leaking
area of the pipe - HY-POXY® STEELBOND® side down.
|
|
|
e.
Thoroughly cover the exposed side of the tape with more HY-POXY®
STEELBOND® and allow it to cure. |
|
|
|
|
|
**The
cost savings are substantial when you repair a leak with HY-POXY®
STEELBOND® instead of replacing the pipe. Plus HY-POXY® STEELBOND®
does not corrode so the repaired area will outlast the rest of the
pipe. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
2.
Making a placement fixture of an odd-shaped piece. |
|
|
a.
Coat the model or piece to be held with a "Wet Film" silicone
release agent. |
|
|
b.
Mix the HY-POXY® STEELBOND® as instructed on the packaging. |
|
|
c.
Place the mixed HY-POXY® STEELBOND® on the backing plate or
desired surface. |
|
|
d.
Position the piece into the HY-POXY® STEELBOND®. |
|
|
e.
After the hypoxy hardens, the piece can be removed and the HY-POXY®
STEELBOND® can be machined or threaded as desired. |
|
|
|
|
|
**The
cost and time savings over making the same fixture from steel is at
least 70% |
|

|
|
|
|
|
3.
Repairing a cracked engine block. |
|
|
a.
Clean, dry and roughen the area around the crack. |
|
|
b.
Thoroughly mix HY-POXY® STEELBOND® as instructed on the packaging. |
|
|
c.
Spread the HY-POXY® STEELBOND® over the crack and surrounding
area to a thickness of at least 1/2" (12.55mm) |
|
|
|
|
|
For
a larger gap or hole follow the same procedure but attach a wire or
fiberglass screen across the gap as a backing for the HY-POXY®
STEELBOND®. |
|
|
|
|
|
**The
savings by using HY-POXY® STEELBOND® for this repair are at
least the cost of a new block! |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
4.
Fill a blow hole in a casting. |
|
|
a.
Clean and dry the cavity as much as possible. |
|
|
b.
Thoroughly mix the HY-POXY® STEELBOND® as instructed on the
packaging. |
|
|
c.
Fill the blow hole to slightly above the surface of the hole. |
|
|
d.
After the HY-POXY® STEELBOND® hardens, it can be filed or
machined off flush with the surrounding surface. |
